Kennel or dog sitter...

UPDATE: There is a thriving dachshund minding network  run through our facebook group.  If you are a facebook member, look for the Long Dogs sitter document under files to find a sitter, or to register to be one.

The most common question we get asked is whether fellow members can recommend a good kennel or dog sitter in Perth.

So I am posting this to enable members to share their own experience and recommendation to the comment section below.

Hope this helps when it comes to making that difficult decision of where to leave your precious long dog whilst away on holiday.

Thank you

  2. Hi,
We used Ashridge Kennels - Banjup too.
Linda (from Ashridge) was an absolute Godsend and took wonderful care of our little man, including sending us regular updates via text.

  3. Hi, I have used a dog sitter in Manning. Her name is Marilyn. From memory she only takes small dogs and takes them for walks and loves dachies!

    Her contact number is 0438 677 252.

  4. If we need to take Ruby to Perth she stays at Uneetoile Kennels which is actually a dachshund breeder (although Ruby didn't come from there). I like them because everything has been designed for dachshunds (beds, yards,no steps, etc) and they know the breed very well. There is lots of socialisation and care. On occasion Ruby has stayed in the house to babysit one of the show dogs. They are very experienced and willing to share their knowledge (even when I have rung up to ask advice).

  6. I THINK i WOULD TRY AND GET A DOG SITTER IN. THEY ARE DOG LOVERS AND I THINK DACHSHUNDS ARE ONE FAMILY DOGS, TO PUT THEM IN A STRANGE PLACE IS VERY UPSETTING FOR THEM. I CRIED WHEN I LEFT MY LITTLE BOY AT THE PAMPERED POOCH. WHEN I FETCHED HIM HE WAS NOTICEABLY THINNER AND ON QUESTIONING THEM THEY SAID IT WAS ALL THE EXCERCISE. HE DID SEEM QUITE HUNGRY WHEN WE RETURNED HOME.
